Mindfulness for Life

We are really pleased to be able to offer the Mindfulness Association’s new programme called “Mindfulness for Life”. It is open to people who have completed our Mindfulness, Compassion and Insight training's either as one year courses at Samye Ling and related centres, or as part of the University of Aberdeen’s MSc in Mindfulness Studies ran in partnership with the Mindfulness Association. Long term practitioners who have completed at least two 10 day retreats with Rob Nairn are also welcome to apply.

This course grew out of our reflections on the experience of running the first year of the experimental “5 year Insight” course:

  • A week of retreat which enables us to have teachings, and discussions as well as periods of silence and the opportunity to immerse ourselves in guided sitting and movement practices.
  • A wonderful forum for exchanging fresh ideas, insights and perspectives on Mindfulness.
  • The chance to form positive friendships and a mindfulness “sangha” to support and enhance our practice through developing regional groups and online meetings.
  • The structure provided by a practice schedule to help maintain a sense of direction. We feel that through Mindfulness for Life we will all continue to enjoy these benefits so that we can remain inspired by our own practice and increase our capacity to help others.
Our approach will always be based on the interconnected principles of “Resting- Reflection- Inquiry”. During the first weekend we will use these practices explore our personal vision for what we would like our life to contribute to the world and how our practice can support and facilitate the next stage of our adventure. This process will help us to develop a “Personal Practice Plan” that we can engage with throughout the coming year so that we can stay connected with our deepest aspirations.


Cost

The cost of the retreat will 430.00. Accommodation to be booked and paid for separately.

The retreat will begin the evening of July 11th and end after breakfast on the 16th July 2017.

Dietary requirements

Our kitchen is run by a team of volunteers. Our aim is to offer delicious vegetarian food but regretfully we can only cater for dietary requirements arising from a diagnosed medical condition.
